Overview
- Spawns 8 shielded explorers around the core. If they die, they respawn at the start of the next building phase.
- Unlocked at Rank 33 for players, who have The Pursuit DLC.
- They are pretty much same as the ones from the Reinforcements perk.
- Shielded Explorers have 225 Health and can withstand the leaping assault of a Walker Warrior.
- They WILL NOT attack enemies and lumes, that go directly to the core (Runners, Soakers, Brood mothers, etc) will ignore them.
Notes & tactics
- The main purpose of the explorers is to hold aggressive lumes, thus delaying them and helping players & towers in damaging and killing the lumes. Here they can serve mostly well as helping the last line of defense.
- There are a few scenarios, when the shielded explorers might be actually unwanted around. These are partially similar to the situations with Reinforcements, G-2 Companion and Roboticist.
- Care should be taken using this perk in maps with the Super Heavy as the Explorers may provoke the boss to fire its beam, potentially destroying towers and the maze in the process. Also the beam can hit the core for 500 damage.
- Hoverer queens, triggered to produce an attack due to nearby explorers, and this might be close enough to towers, closer to the core, that to stun them temporarily with their attacks.
- The Walker Patriarch might be provoked to produce a large punch, and if there are important/many towers nearby, this might be unwanted.
- Hoverers are mostly tricky and then the player usually just should be wary of a potential knockback, that can be riskier in maps, where it is easy to fall/get drowned.
- This perk finds use in all modes, including Survival, where they can be helpful for very long, unlike the shielded explorers from the Reinforcements perk.
